Sweet Home 3D Development Experiments

This project area explores Sweet Home 3D as a lightweight, approachable design environment and as a possible foundation for more capable planning workflows.

The interest is not just in drawing rooms and placing furniture. The larger question is how simple home-design tools can be extended with better technical metadata, cleaner workflows, more useful object libraries, and possible bridges toward CAD or BIM-style thinking.

Current Interests

  • Sweet Home 3D plugin development
  • Java-based desktop application structure
  • Floor-plan and layout workflows
  • Furniture and object library organization
  • Metadata for building components
  • Possible IFC/BIM translation concepts
  • Making technical design tools more approachable
  • Balancing ease of use with engineering-grade structure

This project is personal open-source exploration and does not represent any commercial building design service.
